Glastonbury headliners booked

Michael Eavis has Pyramid stage sorted for 2007

Glastonbury has booked three headliners for next year’s festival, according to organisers.

The bash, currently taking a year’s break, will return in 2007 and festival chief Michael Eavis confirmed at yesterday’s (May 25) Ivor Novello Awards they have booked three acts to headline the Pyramid Stage.

There have been a number of bands – from Dire Straits to the Kaiser Chiefs – rumoured to be in the running for next year’s Glastonbury and while refusing to identify two of the acts booked, Eavis appeared to confirm Kylie Minogue will be playing.

“If she’s well enough, I’m sure Kylie will play,” Eavis told Teletext’s Planet Sound. “I’d love if it was like the Showgirl tour. Lights, high-wire dancers – it was fantastic. It’d go down a treat at the festival.”

Minogue was due to headline last year’s Glastonbury but was forced to pull out of all her touring commitments to receive treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Her place was taken by Basement Jaxx.
