KYLIE MINOGUE has launched her new album ’BODY LANGUAGE’ with a one-off ‘money can’t buy’ club gig in LONDON.
Tickets for the show at the London Hammersmith Apollo (November 15) were only available to competition winners and invited guests. The capacity of the venue is 4,000 – the last time the singer played in London was May 2002, when Kylie performed four nights at Wembley Arena.
Organisers say that planning for the show has been similar to that of her recent world tour. At the gig Kylie was backed by 12 dancers and a full band, who have rehearsed for six weeks to put on the million pound show.
During the heavily choreographed performance it was clear that no expense had been spared, with Kylie going through approximately half a dozen costume changes for the set that included new songs ’Red Blooded Woman’, ’Obsession’, ’Slow’, and older hits like ’Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ and ’Spinning Around’.
Before the gig Kylie held a press conference for the world’s media where she talked about her comeback.
“It’s been pretty intense,” she said of preparing for the set. ”I’m trying to look pretty calm but it has been an intense few weeks leading up to this. There’s going to be a few old (songs in the set), but they’re not-very-oldies. We’re stepping marginally back in time. It’s always difficult choosing which songs to play from the new album and then what’s going to work. There’s a couple of surprises in store and there’s a couple of real ‘train spotter’ surprises.”
The gig was also webcast live on AOL worldwide. It will also be shown on ITV1 in the UK on November 22.
