La Roux dedicates V Festival set to Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’s Charles Haddon

Singer died at Belgium's Pukkelpop festival

La Roux dedicated her V Festival set to Ou Est Le Swimming Pool singer Charles Haddon – who reportedly committed suicide yesterday (August 20).

Elly Jackson played the Stafford leg of V Festival today, and devoted her entire set to Haddon, who has previously supported her on tour.

“Right I just wanna say something quickly,” she informed the Nissan Juke Arena after playing ‘Quicksand’. “Yesterday a friend of ours died. His name was Charley and he was from Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. They supported us on tour, and he died yesterday at Pukkelpop. So the whole of the set is for him really. Can we have a big hand for Charley please?”

She then kicked into a hearty rendition of The Rolling Stones‘Under My Thumb’.

Other tracks aired by the flame-haired singer included ‘Quicksand’, ‘Tigerlily’ and ‘In For The Kill’.

NME is coming live from both V Festival sites this weekend. Head to NME.COM/festivals for full coverage. Plus make sure you buy next week’s issue of NME to get the definitive review of V Festival, either on UK newstands from August 25 or available digitally worldwide.
