La Roux continued the iTunes Live Festival ’09 season with a triumphant show in London last night (July 11).
The duo, fronted by Elly Jackson, were backed by two extra band members as they smashed out tracks from their self-titled debut at the Roundhouse in Camden.
Arriving onstage dressed in a glittering white waistcoat and a medallion against a flashing backdrop of the band’s name, the flame haired singer was in fine voice throughout their short set.
The synth duo were also greeted with huge cheers as they performed Number Two hit ‘In For The Kill’ and their recent Number One ‘Bulletproof’.
But the singer was caught off guard when she spotted a fan doing some “bad dancing” near the end of the show.
“There is a guy on the balcony going round dancing really badly,” Jackson quipped before launching into ‘Colourless Colour’. “It’s brilliant I think he’s wearing a green t-shirt,” she added before he stood up and waved at the crowd.
The show was part of a series of free gigs spanning the whole month of July which will see further performances from Oasis, Kasabian and Bat For Lashes.
The festival is now in its third year and has previously staged intimate performances from Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse and Elbow.
