Lady Gaga announces new single and release date

Gaga’s new single is produced by Mark Ronson and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker

Lady Gaga has revealed that her new single will be called ‘Perfect Illusion’ and will be released in September.

She changed her website to show a scroll of the single title and release information this afternoon (August 17).

‘Perfect Illusion’ is produced by Tame Impala singer Kevin Parker with Mark Ronson and BloodPop, who produced Justin Bieber’s single ‘Sorry’.

Although Gaga released joint album ‘Cheek To Cheek’ with Tony Bennett in 2014, ‘Perfect Illusion’ will be Gaga’s first solo material for an album since her 2013 album ‘Artpop’. She released the single ‘Til It Happens To You’ in 2015 for The Hunting Ground, a documentary about rape.

The new album sees Gaga reunite with RedOne, producer of her hits ‘Poker Face’, ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Bad Romance’. RedOne told Billboard of their reunion: “We both have a cleaner life now. I see her smiling, like the girl I knew before. She’s in a really beautiful place.”

Nile Rodgers of Chic, Giorgio Moroder and Elton John are also said to have worked on the album, while it’s expected that ‘Til It Happens To You’ co-writer Diane Warren will also have contributed other songs.

Ronson said of working with Gaga: “I knew her from just before she got really massive. She came and worked on a Wale song I worked on called ‘Chillin’’. We both grew up on the Upper West Side of New York. She’s a muso at heart. She loves sitting at a piano and barking orders at a drummer. She’s one of the great voices in pop, so we’re going to start there.”

Gaga recently appeared in American Horror Story and has signed up to star in a remake of Barbra Streisand’s film A Star Is Born.
