Watch Lady Gaga cover The Beatles and Katy Perry perform ‘Roar’ at Democratic National Convention

Gaga also covered songs by Neil Young, Edith Piaf and Charlie Chaplin

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry both endorsed Hillary Clinton with performances at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) last night (July 28).

Gaga covered The Beatles’ ‘Come Together’ during a nine-song set which also included covers of Charlie Chaplin’s ‘Smile’, Neil Young’s ‘Old Man’, Edif Piaf’s ‘La Vie En Rose’ and acoustic versions of her own hits ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Born This Way’.

Her performance at the BT&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey was an “invite-only” occasion for delegates at the Democratic National Convention in nearby Philadelphia. Watch footage of her ‘Come Together’ cover below.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry performed her new single ‘Rise’ and Number One hit ‘Roar’ at the main DNC event in Philadelphia. “Both of my parents are pastors, and staunch Republicans,” Perry told the crowd. “I didn’t finish high school and unfortunately I don’t have a formal education but I do have an open mind and I have a voice. So I’m asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice, because on November 8th, you’ll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist.”

“You’ll have as much say as any billionaire,” she continued. “Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin’s vote, if you like. It’s not where you come from; it’s what you grow into.” Watch both performances below.
