Kermit The Frog confirms Lady Gaga and Muppets Christmas television special

'Lady Gaga & the Muppets' Holiday Spectacular' will also feature Elton John

Kermit The Frog has confirmed that Lady Gaga will team up with The Muppets for a Christmas television special called Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular.

In a statement, via The LA Times, the frog commented: “What an incredible opportunity! We have a long history with Ms. Gaga, so we jumped at the chance to do a holiday special with her.” He then referred to a coat designed by Jean Charles de Castelbajac that the singer wore in 2009 which was made up of a host of Kermit puppets: “We won’t even mind if she mistakes some of the Muppets for pieces of her wardrobe – again.”

In 2010 Jim Henson’s Creature Shop aided the production of Gaga’s The Monster Ball tour, while Kermit was her date to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The new Christmas special will see Gaga duetting with Kermit, whilst a host of Muppets will accompany her on a version of her song ‘Applause’. Elton John, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and RuPaul will also feature.

Of the 90 minute programme, which will air Stateside on November 28 on the ABC network, Lady Gaga said: “I was so excited when ABC called me about doing a holiday special this year. I knew it just wouldn’t be a complete night of laughter and memories without the Muppets! Can’t wait to see the gang again and I hope Miss Piggy’s still not mad about Kermit. We’re just friends!”
