Singer's tongue-in-cheek ad makes light of potential backlash for new album...
Lady Gaga has unveiled the trailer video for her forthcoming new album ‘ARTPOP’ – scroll down and click to watch.
The 47-second clip shows the singer with her face covered in plastic being roundly jeered while a series of messages are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Seemingly making light of any backlash she might receive for the new LP, they include slogans such as “Lady Gaga is no longer relevant” and “Ever since ‘Born This Way’, she’s a flop”.
Other messages include “If you don’t like pop music, you should turn this off”, “DO NOT buy her new single Applause on iTunes”, “Give her no A-P-P-L-A-U-S-E”, “DON’T dance to the song at all” and “She’s over”.
The advert’s theme seems to tie in with a recent Tweet Gaga published, in which she told her fans to ignore the opinions of bloggers. “Dont focus on ANY blogger criticism,” she wrote. “I have been a producer/songwriter/musician for over 10 years. Trust the artist, bloggers are not critics.”
Yesterday (August 13), Lady Gaga confirmed rumours that she will be playing live in London next month. The singer will headline the opening night of this year’s iTunes Festival, which takes place at London’s Roundhouse venue every night from September 1 to 30, and has promised fans a flurry of new material from her forthcoming ‘ARTPOP’ album.
Gaga officially premiered the album’s lead single ‘Applause’ yesterday after it leaked over the weekend. ‘ARTPOP’ is set for release on November 11.
