Lady Gaga clashes with Calvin Harris on Twitter

Pair clash over producers claims he turned her down in 2008

Lady Gaga has criticised Calvin Harris and accused him of lying after the chart-topping producer claimed that he turned down the opportunity to work with her years ago.

Harris, who was being interviewed by BBC Breakfast, revealed today (Oct 29) that he was offered the chance to work with Gaga back in 2008, before she became the huge star she is today. Harris claimed he declined the offer as he was working with Dizzee Rascal at the time and that he “didn’t really like the songs” he was sent.

However, it appears that Gaga objects to this version of events and took to Twitter to respond to Harris. Starting her defence, Gaga wrote: “Seems to be trendy lately to talk shit about “Lady Gaga” when your albums/singles drop. Y’all should live off your own hustle.” Adding: “Never even emailed you @calvinharris I guess it’s hard to believe I write + produce my music. Cuz I’m a woman I don’t know about EDM right?”

The pair did, however, make up after Harris contacted Gaga to explain what he had said on TV this morning. Scroll down to see the full Twitter exchange.

Gaga, who has often promoted her music whilst talking about Madonna, also made a statement about the credibility of her music, tweeting: “Music is mortal if it has no integrity behind it. I’m interested in making the immortal kind.”

Lady Gaga recently hit the headlines after it was revealed that a series of gender-bending ferns had been named after the ‘Born This Way’ star.

Calvin Harris releases his new album ’18 Months’ today featuring appearances from Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, Dizzee Rascal, Rihanna and Example.
