Concerned singer says she hopes the couple are 'OK' following Kristen Stewart's fling
Lady Gaga has tweeted support to troubled Twilight couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, hitting out at the press.
On Tuesday (June 24), reports started to circulate that Stewart had cheated on Pattinson – her co-star in the Twilight movies and boyfriend of over two years – with film director Rupert Sanders. The pair met when Stewart was shooting her recent film Snow White And The Huntsman, which Sanders directed, but the affair is alleged to have taken place later, during promotional duties for the movie.
Yesterday (June 25), Stewart confirmed the rumours by issuing a public apology in US celebrity magazine People. She said in a statement: “I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
Media interest in the tryst has been intense, prompting Lady Gaga to share her thoughts on press ethics with her 27,540, 017 Twitter followers. She wrote: “geez this kirstew rob stuff is brutal. makes me sad the way press acts. hope they’re ok.”
As of today (July 26), Gaga’s message has been re-tweeted more than 10,000 times. She has yet to post again about Stewart and Pattinson’s relationship troubles, but has tweeted several times about her new social networking website littlemonsters.com.
