'Born This Way' singer is declared world's most powerful celebrity

Lady Gaga has topped Forbes magazine’s Celebrity 100 list, ousting Oprah Winfrey.

The singer, who next Monday (May 23) finally releases her new album ‘Born This Way’, has moved up four places to the top from last year bumping Winfrey down to second place. View the full list at

Forbes cited her estimated earnings in the past year of $90 million (£55.6 million), as well as her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers.

Editor Dorothy Pomerantz said: “Lady Gaga beat Oprah this year because of her social media power. She’s the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years.”

Elsewhere on the list Justin Bieber makes his first appearance at number three, U2 are fourth and Elton John is the highest placed British placing at five.
