Lady Gaga performs ‘Sound of Music’ tribute at Oscars – watch

Medley was performed for film's 50th anniversary

Lady Gaga performed a medley of songs from The Sound Of Music at the Oscars last night (February 22).

The performance coincided with the 50th anniversary of the musical, first released in 1965. During her performance, Gaga performed four songs from the film including ‘The Sound Of Music’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Edelweiss’ and ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’.

Backed by a choir and a string section, the performance was watched by Julie Andrews, who starred in the original film as Maria Von Trapp, and introduced by Scarlett Johansson.

Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel were the major winners at the 87th Academy Awards. Black comedy Birdman took home four of the biggest prizes: Best Picture, Best Director for Alejandro G Inarritu, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel also collected four awards, all in technical categories.

Eddie Redmayne’s performance as the young Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything beat Birdman‘s Michael Keaton to the Best Actor award, while Julianne Moore was named Best Actress for her portrayal of a woman battling Alzheimer’s disease in Still Alice.
