Gaga has been teasing Mark Ronson and Tame Impala collaboration ‘Perfect Illusion’
Lady Gaga is set to release her new single ‘Perfect Illusion’ on Friday (September 9).
Having changed the homepage of her website to a scrolling screen of the new single title, fans have been examining its source code. This revealed a release date of September 9, which has since been removed by Gaga’s website moderators.
The coding also revealed links to four different snippets of the song, which could theoretically be released at any time.
Gaga’s spokesman refused to comment on the rumoured release date when contacted by NME, but NME understands the September 9 date is correct. The date was also named by US radio executive Jackson Scott of iHeartRadio, who tweeted: “Definitely excited for everyone to hear #PerfectIllusion in a few days.”
Since her last album ‘Artpop’ in 2013, Gaga has released duets album ‘Cheek To Cheek’ with Tony Bennett and one-off ballad ‘Til It Happens To You’, written with Diane Warren, from the documentary The Hunting Ground.
Gaga has also appeared in American Horror Story as The Countess and been confirmed to star in an upcoming big-screen remake of Barbra Streisand’s film A Star Is Born.
Other musicians set to feature on Gaga’s next album are said to include Chic’s Nile Rodgers, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Giorgio Moroder and RedOne, who produced her early hits such as ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Poker Face’.
