New Lana Del Rey track ‘Backfire’ leaks online – listen

Another new song from 'Video Games' songstress hits the web

A new track by Lana Del Rey, titled ‘Backfire’, has leaked online.

You can listen to the unreleased song – a slow ballad which features the lyrics “I’ve been waiting on your love, baby, for too long now, too long now/ I thought that I could change you like the others, but I don’t know how, don’t know how” – by scrolling down and clicking below.

The track is the latest in a spate of new material from the ‘Video Games’ songstress after three other songs – ‘Big Bad Wolf’, ‘Playing Dangerous’ and ‘Afraid’ – were also leaked online. It is currently unclear whether any of the songs will be given an official release in the future.

Earlier this month (September 8), Del Rey revealed she suffered from an alcohol addiction when she was younger, and was sent to boarding school by her parents to get sober. Speaking to GQ, she said: “I was a big drinker at the time. I would drink every day. I would drink alone. I thought the whole concept was so fucking cool. A great deal of what I wrote on ‘Born To Die’ is about these wilderness years.

“My parents were worried, I was worried. I knew it was a problem when I liked it more than I liked doing anything else. I was like, ‘I’m fucked. I am totally fucked’.”

The ‘Born To Die’ singer drew heavy criticism, however, for posing naked on the cover of the same magazine. The singer was named as the magazine’s woman of the year earlier this month (September 4) and is pictured alongside Tinie Tempah, Robbie Williams, Mad Men actor John Slattery and James Corden on the magazine’s cover. However, all the men are dressed in suits, while Del Rey isn’t wearing anything at all.

Del Rey is also currently appearing in a new advertising campaign for Swedish fashion brand H&M. H&M will release a video of her covering Bobby Vinton’s 1963 track ‘Blue Velvet’ as part of the campaign. It will be released in full on H&M’s website on September 19, and a condensed version of the short will later air as a television commercial.

She will appear at London’s iTunes Festival six days later. Tickets for each gig are given away on the event’s official website. See for full details on how to get them.
