Best Solo Artist Laura Marling chats about new album – video

Singer speaks at Shockwaves NME Awards

Laura Marling has spoken in a new NME video interview after winning the Best Solo Artist award at last night’s (February 23) Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony.

The singer beat off competition from Kanye West, Florence And The Machine’s Florence Welch, Frank Turner and Paul Weller to take the award.

As well as reflecting on the award she said she still hopes to release a new album in 2011 – having scrapped plans to release a second full record beyond ‘I Speak Because I Can’ in 2010.
