'Semper Femina' is coming in March
Laura Marling is back – unveiling the video for new track ‘Soothing’ as she announces new album ‘Semper Femina’ and a 2017 UK tour. Full dates and ticket details are below.
Marling’s sixth album will be released on 10 March via her own ‘More Alarming Records’ label, and launch single ‘Soothing’ shows her making her debut as a video director – inspired by vivid dreams she experienced while making the record in LA in 2015.
She said that the albums deals with ‘addressing questions of how society views sexuality and gender but without seeking to provide definitive answers’.
“I started out writing ‘Semper Femina’ as if a man was writing about a woman, and then I thought; ‘it’s not a man, it’s me’,” she said of the record. “I don’t need to pretend it’s a man to justify the intimacy, or the way I’m looking and feeling about women. It’s me looking specifically at women and feeling great empathy towards them, and by proxy, towards myself.”
To launch the record, Laura Marling’s upcoming UK tour dates are below. Tickets are on sale from 9am on Friday 2 December.
