James Murphy and band covered 'Heroes' and a snippet of 'November Rain'

LCD Soundsystem paid tribute to David Bowie during their headline set at Coachella Festival on Friday night (April 15) in California.

Coachella Festival runs at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California this weekend (April 15-17) and returns next weekend (April 22-24). LCD Soundsystem are headlining alongside Guns N’ Roses and Calvin Harris.

During their first weekend headline set, LCD Soundsystem covered Bowie’s ‘Heroes’, as well as a playing a snippet of ‘November Rain’ by fellow headliners Guns N’ Roses during their performance of ‘New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down’. Watch footage below.

Prior to his death, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy worked with Bowie, remixing his track ‘Love Is Lost’ in 2013.

Kanye West made a surprise appearance at Coachella joining A$AP Rocky on stage during the latter rapper’s set. The pair teamed up to perform ‘Father Stretch My Hands Pt 1’ from West’s recent ‘The Life Of Pablo’ album.

LCD Soundsystem released their last album, 2010’s ‘This Is Happening’, before breaking up. They reunited for their first live show in nearly five years on March 27.
