Leftfield have collaborated with Afrika Bambaataa for a new track, ‘Afrika Shox’, which looks set to be released as their long-awaited new single.
The track, which was written two years ago, is slated for release in March. It will be their first single since the rerelease of ‘Release The Pressure’ in January 1996.
The video was made by CHRIS CUNNINGHAM, the man behind the award-winning video for APHEX TWIN‘s ‘Come To Daddy’ and is described as “phenomenal”.
One source said: “The single’s like an old-skool electro track, with a real Leftfield groove and Afrika Bambaataa going mad over the top. The video itself is just awesome, although some of the themes in it have been picked up on and used in other places.”
Leftfield, aka NEIL BARNES and PAUL DALEY, are currently putting the finishing touches to their as-yet-untitled new LP, the follow-up to their hugely successful debut, ‘Leftism’, which came out in February 1995. The band will be going out on the road next year, hopefully before the summer.
