Leona Lewis takes number one with Snow Patrol cover

Meanwhile, Take That win Britney album chart battle

Leona Lewis has hit the number one spot with her Snow Patrol cover ‘Run’.

The track, originally covered for Radio 1‘s Live Lounge, was made available as a download following public pressure, and this week broke download records, making it a dead cert for number one.

Lewis knocks Take That off the top spot with their single ‘Greatest Day’ – however, the reformed boyband can take comfort, having comfortably won their album chart battle with Britney Spears.

Their album ‘The Circus’ is a new entry at Number One, while Spears‘ similarly-titled ‘Circus’ debuts at Number Four, behind The Killers and Leona Lewis.
