Liam Gallagher says music isn’t influenced by music

Gallagher says his changed circumstances have reinvigorated his songwriting

Liam Gallagher has said that music isn’t influenced by other music, instead stating that his recently changed circumstances have more influence on his songwriting.

All Saints member Nicole Appleton and Gallagher were married from 2008 to 2014, having dated since 2000. They have one child together.

Speaking to Q magazine, Gallagher was asked what music has inspired his new songs, with Liam responding that “music isn’t inspired by music, I don’t think.”

He continued, “It’s influenced by life. To have good music you have to have an interesting, varied life. Shit music comes from boring lives.”

“The reason why so much music is boring, no matter how many bells and whistles and strobes they stick on it, is because they have boring lives,” he added. “My wonky life over the last few years is going to make for better music.”

Meanwhile, Gallagher declared that he has “no friends” and he is a “lone wolf”. The former Oasis frontman says he has cut ties with many of his friends and would rather spend time with his girlfriend and manager, Debbie Gwyther.

“I can count my friends on no hands. I don’t have any apart from Debbie. I do my own thing. I’m a lone wolf,” he told Q Magazine.
