Liam Payne‘s new single ‘First Time’ has reportedly failed to secure a spot in the official Top 40,.
The track, which features the efforts of French Montana, featured on Payne’s new EP which hit shelves last week.
Although the EP wasn’t eligible for the album chart, the four tracks have all failed to make a dent in the Top 40.
As well as ‘First Time’, the EP featured three other songs, ‘Home with You’, ‘Depend On It’ and Slow.
According to The Sun, it’s unlikely that they will appear in the Top 100 either.
Instead, his highest charting effort comes with J.Balvin collaboration ‘Familiar’, which appears at No.88.
An insider revealed: “When Liam released his first solo single, Strip That Down, last summer it had a great reaction and peaked at No 3. But fast forward 12 months and people have lost interest.
“Fans complained the music on his EP was too auto-tuned and it just hasn’t been enough to get people excited.
“Bosses are still hoping the single First Time will rise up the charts in the next few weeks, but it’s not a good start and has made them uncertain as to which direction to go down with the album.”
Earlier this year, Payne announced his split from Cheryl after two years together.
