Say it ain't so?
Lil Uzi Vert has shocked fans after seemingly announcing plans to quit music.
The ‘Money Longer’ star announced his decision on Instagram stories last night, claiming that he wanted to be “normal” again.
“I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supporters but I’m done with music,” the star wrote.
“I deleted everything. I wanna be normal … I wanna wake up in 2013. You are free.”
The shock announcement comes after it was expected that his second album, ‘Eternal Atake’, would arrive in 2019.
Responding on Twitter, one fan wrote: “I never thought I’d tear up because of an artist that doesn’t even know I’m alive, but lil uzi being done with music is really sad to me. I’ve had some of the best moments in my life to his shit man.”
Another said: “I respect that you wanna take a break or just dip off the face of the planet for a bit, but please don’t stop making music. You’re one of my inspiration and I don’t know what I would do if you just called it a quits.”
But not everyone was convinced. Some argued that it could in fact be a double bluff – and the start of his promotional campaign.
“Y’al really pressed like that about lil uzi vert music? This is the beginning of a promo cycle lol,” wrote one user.
Another argued that he simply needed a break before returning to music.
It’s also unclear how the announcement will effect Lil Uzi Vert’s live commitments for 2019 – with forthcoming performances scheduled at festivals including Poland’s Open’er.
Last year, Lil Uzi Vert also got the Nardwuar treatment – and ran away from the Canadian interviewer after being freaked out by his notoriously accomplished research skills.
