Rapper was performing live at Nova Southeastern University
Lil Wayne stormed off stage during a gig this week after his DJ played the wrong backing track. Watch fan shot footage of the moment now.
The incident came seven songs into a gig at Nova Southeastern University on Thursday (March 12). Wayne was about to perform his remix of the O.T. Genasis track ‘CoCo’ but instead of the altered version he normally raps over, Wayne’s DJ played the original version. This sent the rapper into a rage and he threw his microphone at the DJ, shouted abuse at him and left the stage.
Wayne’s of ‘CoCo’ features on his ‘Sorry For The Wait 2’ mixtape and sees him criticise his record label, Cash Money. The rapper is suing Cash Money Records and its owner, Birdman, for $51m (£37m).
He believes Cash Money have violated his contract by not releasing his new album ‘Tha Carter V’. ‘Sorry 4 The Wait 2’ was released as an apology to fans waiting for ‘Tha Carter V’.
The reports of legal action follow repeated reports of disharmony between Wayne and his label, with the rapper previously claiming he was a prisoner until his album is released.
