Is Lil Wayne retiring from music?

The rapper tweeted yesterday (September 3) that he was "defenceless and mentally defeated"

Lil Wayne has implied that he may be retiring from music in a series of tweets.

The rapper has suffered an increasing number of seizures in recent months, while he was also involved in a dispute with label Cash Money.

At the start of the year, Wayne walked off stage midway through a Milan gig, after appearing to grow frustrated with a mainly unresponsive crowd. It was later revealed by the rapper’s team that technical difficulties were the cause of the musician’s outrage.

Last night, the New Orleans rapper tweeted: “I am now defenseless and mentally defeated & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.”

He continued: “ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity. I’m good y’all don’t trip.”

It is not clear what exactly he was referring to when he said he would “leave gracefully”, but a number of fellow musicians have responded to his tweets, as Pitchfork reports.

“Prayers up 4 whatever u may be enduring right now this to will pass & may u find PEACE I will always be a fan of your work,” wrote Missy Elliott.

Chance The Rapper tweeted: “Dear @LilTunechi I just wanna remind you that absolutely nothing and no one in this world can defeat you. Tell them devils back back.”
