The rapper faces drugs and weapons charges
Lil Wayne appeared in a Yuma, Arizona court today (June 23) on drug possession and weapons charges.
The rap star, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was ordered by the the Yuma County Superior Court judge to attend the pretrial hearing this morning, reports the Associated Press.
Carter‘s attorney told the judge that US Border Patrol still has not turned over records of the rapper’s arrest that the defence requested several months ago, so the judge set another court date for August 11.
Carter was arrested in January 2008 by US Border Patrol officers who said they found cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus when it was inspected at a checkpoint on Interstate 8 near Yuma.
Carter has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
