Speaking to The Express, Stephen Green from campaign group Christian Voice said of the performance: “It is tasteless, it is disrespectful and it is crass.”

Conservative MP Martin Vickers criticised Allen too, saying: “This could be extremely offensive to many Christians. It is important that all religions are given the respect they deserve and I can certainly understand why some Christians believe their deeply held views are being squeezed out.”

Allen’s sold-out Christmas show requested audience members come in ‘Christmas clobber’, with prizes for the best dressed. Allen is yet to respond to the criticism.
