Allen will tour with the pop star for a string of dates in the US next month
Lily Allen has compared Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour with Oasis and The Stone Roses.
The singer, who will tour with Cyrus for seven dates in the US beginning on August 1, said that the show at the O2 in London was one of the most impressive gigs she’d ever seen.
“I saw it at the O2 in London [in May], and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s one of the best shows that I’ve seen in years,” Allen told Billboard. “It’s up there with an Oasis show or The Stone Roses or something. It’s kind of incredible to watch – she’s a real force. There’s no two ways about it, she’s meant to be up there doing that.”
“She’s incredible, and she has such a presence,” Allen says of Cyrus. “Her personality is what shines through. I’m not close to Miley. I don’t know her very well, but I feel proud of her.”
Earlier this week, Allen announced that she is no longer working on music for the forthcoming Bridget Jones musical. The singer had been working on new material for the West End production, and posted one track – an ode to her fridge called ‘Yummy’ – online earlier this year.
However, she has now said that her involvement in the project has come to an end. “I wrote some great music for it, but Helen Fielding wants to go back and write a whole new story. It’s been a long-term project and I was happy to do my bit, but now I’m out of the picture,” she said.
