Limp Bizkit premiered two brand new tracks from their forthcoming album, ‘CHOCOLATE STARFISH AND THE HOT DOG FLAVOURED WATER’, at a fan-only invitation show in LA last week (June 12), nme.com can reveal.
The band introduced ‘My Way’ and ‘My Generation’ during a pre-record for a future broadcast of BBC TV’s Top Of The Pops. The tracks weren’t recorded for screening and served only as the soundcheck before forthcoming single ‘Theme From Mission: Impossible’. The single is released through Interscope on July 3.
A spokesperson for Limp Bizkit present at the performance told nme.com that the new tracks were much in the same vein as the last album.
He added that due to time constraints, it looked unlikely that the long talked about Limp Bizkit/William Orbit collaboration was going to happen.
To provide an audience for the show, Limp Bizkit e-mailed a few fans inviting them to the 100-capacity SIR Studios on Sunset Boulevard. Such was the response, that special permission was sought from the local fire authorities to increase capacity at the venue. Over 300 fans packed in, with several hundred more left on the street.
The band are currently putting the finishing touches to ‘Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavoured Water’, due for release in August.
They are then are to be joined by Cypress Hill for the ‘Back To Basics’ 24-date free tour of the US from July 4. Though venues in all 10 American cities the tour shall visit have yet to be announced, it is unlikely that there will be a problem shifting tickets.
All tickets are free and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. The tour will be sponsored by Napster for $1.8 million.
