Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington says he wants to ‘make a lot of music’ with Stone Temple Pilots

Singer outlines plans for new band

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has promised to “make a lot” of music with Stone Temple Pilots.

It was revealed earlier this month that the singer is now fronting the band, who were previously led by Scott Weiland. Speaking about their future plans, Bennington said they would be heading to the studio soon and “hammering out some more music”. He told Rolling Stone: “We don’t have a label. Everything we’re doing is on our own, so we’re just taking it one track at a time.

We would love to sit down and hammer out a record, but the reality is we’re gonna make music, we’re gonna make a lot of it, and we’re gonna be in a position to release a single at a time, go out and really give people music the way they want to get it,” he added. “It is a good position to be in, and for us, all we care about is going out, making the legacy as great as it needs to be, as great as people expect it to be, and coming out with new music that lives up to that standard.”

Speaking previously about his decision to join the band and the difference between Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park, Bennington said: “Every band has it’s own kind of vibe. Stone Temple Pilots has this sexier, more classic rock feel to it. Linkin Park is a very modern, very tech-heavy type of band. I grew up listening to these guys. When this opportunity came up, it was just like a no-brainer.”

The band posted their first new material with Bennington, a track titled ‘Out Of Time’, earlier this week – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to listen.
