Linkin Park writing follow-up to ‘A Thousand Suns’

Producer Rick Rubin updates fans on progress of rockers' new release

Linkin Park are currently working on a brand new album, the follow-up to 2010’s ‘A Thousand Suns’.

In an interview with Billboard, the band’s producer Rick Rubin revealed that the band have “been in the studio writing”.

“Typically we’ll have a once a week meeting to go listen to the songs that they’re coming up with and talk about them,” said Rubin on the progress of the new effort. “For so early in the project, they are much further along than they have been on the last two albums we did. On ‘A Thousand Suns’ there were still a lot of irons in the fire. We knew, ‘OK, we can’t do this forever. Let’s leave this batch and we’ll come back and address it when we start up again.'”

Linkin Park recently headlined Download Festival. Chatting to NME on site before the performance, vocalist Chester Bennington revealed: “It’s an honour to close up the festival. It’s pretty cool. We just want to go out there and play our music as well as we can and put as much passion and energy into the performance as we can.”
