According to the official TLC website, ‘The Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes Fund’ should be written into the memo section of cheques sent in.
Lopes’ funeral takes place later today at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, a suburb of Atlanta (May 2).
According to the local Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper, police are expecting up to 30,000 friends, family and fans at the service. The church itself can hold 10,000 people.
Rob Goldstone, TLC‘s US publicist said: “The service will be a pretty amazing thing. The family was very keen to have the fans give a proper send-off to Lisa. There is going to be an amazing gospel choir performing, as well as friends, well known in the music industry, who will perform something.”
Security at the service is likely to be tight, with mourners being searched on entry. Cameras and recording equipment will be banned. Last night, some of the streets near to the church were closed to stop fans camping outside.
