The Chainsmokers have released their new single ‘Sick Boy’ – check it out along with its video below.
The EDM duo teased new material at the turn of the year, taking to their social media accounts on January 1. Along with a new logo, the band posted the caption ‘how many likes is my life worth?’.
Now, the duo have unveiled ‘Sick Boy’ – the first taste of material from their upcoming new album.
The track is somewhat darker than what’s to be expected from the duo who gave us ‘The One’ and the Coldplay-featuring ‘Something Just Like This’.
Opening with simple piano chords, Drew Taggart sings: “I’m from the east side of America, where we choose pride over character, and we can pick sides but this is us”.
Things get dramatic as the beat drops during the chorus, before Taggart speaks of narcissism and those ‘likes’ referenced in the track’s promo teaser.
Last year, The Chainsmokers joined the likes of Ed Sheeran, Drake, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar by landing in Spotify’s Top 5 most-streamed artists of 2017. ‘Something Just Like This’ was also the fourth most-streamed track on the music platform.
Back in September, the duo faced a backlash after they were accused of making racist joke during an interview in China.
