Courtney Barnett has today released a grungy new single, ‘Everybody Here Hates You.’
The song was recorded late last year during the world tour to promote her second album, ‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’.
Described as “a rollicking paean to depression and self-belief”, Barnett aimed to capture her live sound closely on this latest release. A video to accompany the new song, directed by Barnett’s long-term collaborator Danny Cohen, will be released later this month.
The single will be released as an exclusive Record Store Day 12″ on April 14. Barnett’s other recent release, ‘Small Talk’ will appear on the song’s B-side. ‘Small Talk’ was recorded during sessions for Barnett’s second album, released last year.
Reviewing Barnett’s last album, NME wrote: “‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’ is Courtney Barnett at her angriest and most vulnerable, but being a drinker of details means she can also blow the beauty of life’s little things up to full-size…It’s that candid charm that may just make her the voice of her generation.”
Barnett will be supporting The National on tour in North America this summer ahead of a series of festival slots in Europe. Barnett’s UK dates are listed below.
