Listen to Franz Ferdinand cover Angel Olsen

They played 'Shut Up Kiss Me.'

Franz Ferdinand have covered Angel Olsen‘s ‘Shut Up Kiss Me’ for American radio station, SiriusXM.

Olsen’s version was released in 2016, and appeared on ‘My Woman’, her third studio album.

Franz Ferdinand didn’t stray far from the original with their cover – listen below.

Last October, Franz Ferdinand teased their return with a snippet of new music, before announcing a new album and tour.

‘Always Ascending’ was the title track and first single from their fifth studio album – their first in five years – which is out tomorrow (February 9).

Read NME’s four star review of it here.

“In terms of the sound, the song is quite representative of the whole record,” Kapranos told NME.

“This one sounds quite different from our previous records – it’s a bit wider and less of a ‘straight up guitar’ album. It’s just a taster. There are many more surprises to come.”

The band have also released ‘Lazy Boy‘ and ‘Feel The Love Go‘ from ‘Always Ascending’.

In May 2017, Franz Ferdinand revealed their new-look band line-up following the departure of founding member Nick McCarthy last year.

McCarthy left the band after 14 years back in July 2016, with Franz Ferdinand confirming that he wouldn’t be taking part in either the recording or touring of their next album. The guitarist thanked the band’s fans “for being such an inspiration over the years” in an accompanying statement.
