Listen to Jorja Smith and Stormzy’s new track ‘Let Me Down’

The Drake-approved singer has teamed up with the award-winning grime MC

Jorja Smith and Stormzy have collaborated on the Walsall singer’s new single, ‘Let Me Down’.

The track was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show earlier today (January 11). Smith also told the radio DJ how the collaboration came about.

“I was in the studio with Ed [Thomas], and he was playing the chords on the piano, and I was singing, and Stormzy kind of drifted in and out – that’s kind of what he does on the verse,” she said. “He literally floated onto the track and I feel like that’s how it sounds as well.”

In a press release, Smith, who has been named the Brits Critics Choice Award winner for 2018, added: “‘Let Me Down’ is about meaning very little to someone, but being okay with that, even though it hurts.”  Listen to the track above.

Yesterday, the singer revealed via her Instagram story that she had been robbed. A clip posted to the social networking platform was captioned: “Whoever robbed me on these streets will receive karma.” Elsewhere, the clip noted “Careful with them cute bags”, and “Also less talking on the phone while walking.”

Last year, Smith featured on Drake‘s ‘More Life‘ “playlist”, and supported the Canadian artist on his UK arena tour. Meanwhile, the rising star will head out on her own UK headline tour in February.

Jorja Smith will play:

Edinburgh, Liquid Rooms (February 6)
Sheffield, Leadmill (7)
Liverpool, Invisible Wind Factory (8)
Cambridge, Junction (12)

London, O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (14, 15)
