Listen to ‘I Thought You Were Dead’, the new song from Morrissey

The track was released for Record Store Day

Morrissey has shared ‘I Thought You Were Dead’, a new track taken from a 7″ record released just for Record Store Day.

On Saturday, vinyl lovers were able to get their hands on a 7″ from the former Smiths frontman which featured ‘Lover-To-Be’ as it’s A-Side. While fans will be familiar with the track after it featured on the deluxe edition of 2017’s ‘Low In High School’, the B-Side offers the new unreleased song – which has since made its way to YouTube. Listen to it in full below.

The release came only hours before Morrissey announced that he has been forced to reschedule two Canadian tour dates after a ‘medical emergency’ caused while travelling.

The musician was due to play in Vancouver yesterday (April 14) and tonight, the first dates of what was due to be his first Canadian tour in over a decade, but they have now been pushed back to October 14 and 15.

A statement from Ticketmaster last night says: “Due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while traveling in Europe, Morrissey will be forced to postpone his performances in Vancouver to October 14th and 15th, 2019.

“Spirits are high and the artist is on the path to a swift recovery.  All tickets will be valid for the new date and exchanges will not be necessary. Thank you for your understanding.”

The tour is in support of his latest album ‘California Son’, a covers record that features Billie Joe Armstrong, Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste and more.
