MGMT have released new single ‘Hand It Over’, the third track to be taken from their upcoming fourth album ‘Little Dark Age’. Check it out below
The slow-burning psychedelic track follows the release of ‘When You Die’ and the record’s title track – with the New York duo previously releasing music videos for new songs.
A release date for the follow up to their 2013 self-titled third record is yet to be revealed, although the New Yorker reports that it’ll drop at some point in February.
Further details on the record were revealed last month, after it was confirmed that it will feature collaborations with Ariel Pink and Connan Mockasin.
It has also been revealed that one song on the new album, titled ‘James’, was written while the band were on acid with producer Patrick Wimberly.
“Former Chairlift guitarist Wimberly took a ‘microdose of acid’ with MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden and Dave Goldwasser, but it turned out to be a lot bigger than expected.
“I spent hours screaming at the top of my lungs about Pakistan,” VanWyngarden recently explained to Q Magazine. Goldwasser then sent over a keyboard loop and the band finished the whole song during the recording session.
In 2016, Mac DeMarco also hinted that an MGMT collaboration could be on the cards after revealing that he’s close friends with Andrew VanWyngarden.
“[VanWyngarden] lives in the same neighbourhood as me, so we’re homies. I don’t know, maybe I should leave it as a mystery”, he said.
“I’m not recording on any MGMT albums, just my own record, but who knows?”
