The Motörhead frontman collaborated with Chris Declercq on 'We Are The Ones' before he died

Lemmy‘s final solo recording has been released nearly two years after his death.

The Motörhead frontman died on December 28, 2015 from congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia. He had also been battling prostate cancer. He was 69 years of age.

Approximately six months before his death, the metal icon collaborated with Chris Declercq on what would become his final solo recording. ‘We Are The Ones’ is available to listen to below now, via Rolling Stone.

In a statement given to the site, Declercq addressed Lemmy, saying: “You opened a door no one else wanted to open for me. You allowed me to share precious moments with you as a composer, musician, and friend. By helping me, you showed that you were the most generous, humble and honest man. I am honouring your gift every day and you are forever in my heart.”

In a mini-documentary about the making of the track, Declercq explained how he had finished the song at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 because it felt right to do it there. He also recalled Lemmy’s girlfriend calling him to arrange a photoshoot the night before the Motörhead legend’s death.

Earlier this year, the remaining members of Motörhead released a covers album in tribute to the late singer. ‘Under Cover’ featured Lemmy and his band’s take on songs by the Sex Pistols, Judas Priest, Metallica, David Bowie and more.
