Listen to Vampire Weekend reinvent Post Malone’s ‘Sunflower’

The band released their own song of the same name earlier this month

Vampire Weekend have covered Post Malone’s ‘Sunflower’ in a new live session.

The original version of the track appeared on the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and featured Rae Sremmurd member Swae Lee.

The New York band shared their version of the song while performing in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge today (March 21). Referencing the fact they recently released their own song called ‘Sunflower’, frontman Ezra Koenig said of the cover: “It’s very confusing.” Listen to it below now.

The group also played recent single ‘Harmony Hall’ in the session. You can listen to the full thing on the BBC Sounds website.

Last week (March 14), Vampire Weekend confirmed details of their first UK tour in six years in support of upcoming album ‘Father Of The Bride’. The dates will follow a string of intimate London shows, due to begin today.

Tickets for the tour go on sale tomorrow (March 22) at 10am. Vampire Weekend will play:

November 2019

7 – Edinburgh, Usher Hall
8 – Manchester, Victoria Warehouse
11 – Birmingham, Birmingham Academy
13 – London, Alexandra Palace

The band recently shared the video for their song ‘Sunflower’, which features a cameo from Jerry Seinfeld. The clip was directed by Jonah Hill and saw Koenig and The Internet’s Steve Lacy visiting various locations on New York’s Upper West Side.
