The countdown to LIVE 8 has begun – with countless rumours about the performances of the stars involved.

The event, due to start in London Hyde Park tomorrow (July 2) and in other cities worldwide, will see performance from the likes of Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Pink Floyd and [/a].

As reported yesterday, Coldplay look set to invite Richard Ashcroft on stage to perform a cover of The Verve’s hit single ’Bitter Sweet Symphony’, while Pete Doherty looks set to make the most bizarre cameo of the day – duetting with Elton John on a cover of ’Children Of The Revolution’.


Elsewhere, Robbie Williams looks set to pay tribute to Queen’s legendary set at the 1985 Live Aid concert with a cover of their ’We Will Rock You’, while Pink Floyd’s first gig with Roger Waters in over two decades is likely to feature the songs ’Wish You Were Here’ and ’Comfortably Numb’.

Having opened the show with a duet with U2 performing ’Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band’, ex-Beatle [a]Paul McCartney will play ’The Long And Winding Road’, before being joined by a host of stars for the finale.
