‘Tempo’ sees Lizzo collaborating with Missy Elliott, and the artist told Beats 1 earlier this month that she reached out to the ‘Work It’ rapper after hearing the song’s completed instrumental.
“I was like, ‘I hope she blesses me with a verse,'” Lizzo explained. “Like, you never know, you send it to your idols, you never know if they gonna send it back.” Listen to ‘Tempo’ below.
After previously telling NME that she was part of the bill, Glastonbury’s first major line-up announcement last week confirmed that Lizzo will indeed perform at the 2019 festival. Details of her stage time and day of performance have yet to be confirmed, however.
Back in November, Missy Elliott lifted the lid on one of the biggest secrets behind her hit ‘Work It’ – revealing that its backwards hook actually came about due to an error from her studio engineer.
“The engineer happened to hit something, and [the hook] just went backward, and I was like, ‘Oh that’s kind of crazy’ because it went backward on the beat,” she recalled.
