More acts announced for the seaside festival...

Lo-Fidelity Allstars, Luke Vibert & B.J. Cole, Horace Andy and GABRIELLE are among the artists who have joined JAMES BROWN on the bill at this year’s ESSENTIAL FESTIVAL.

The festival this year is being held at Stanmer Park, Brighton on July 15-16. The Saturday (July 15) will have a bill devoted to dance, while the Sunday (July 16) will be the Roots Day.

Tickets for the event go on sale on April 15, priced #30 per day. The full line-up for the festival is yet to be confirmed, but artists confirmed to play over the two days so far are Lo-Fi Allstars, Luke Vibert & BJ Cole, Horace Andy, Scratch Perverts, Vadim & Kella, Luke Slater, Matthew Bushwaka, Beenieman, James Lavelle, Tim Westwood, Buju Banton, Judge Jules, DJ Krush, Luciano, Graham Gold, Fabio, Gabrielle, John Kelly, DJ Rap, Jamelia, Grooverider and DJ Hype.


Festival organisers are also promising an aftershow all-nighter at the Brighton Centre on the night of July 15 for ticketholders. The Dance Day at Essential will feature six stages, the main Essential Stage, Big Beat Boutique Stage, Pussycat Club Stage, Legends Of The Dark Black Stage, World Dance Stage and Experiments In Sound Stage.

On day two – Roots Day – there will be a Touch Stage, Roots Stage, Rockers Stage, Global Spirits Stage and Zulu Warrior Stage.

All the acts will be assigned stages as the festival approaches.

Essential returns to Stanmer Park after a two year hiatus. The last to be held there was a three day event in 1997, which featured the Chemical Brothers , Fatboy Slim and The Brand New Heavies.
