London Astoria wins Best Venue at Shockwaves NME Awards

Demolition can't spoil iconic venue's big night

London‘s Astoria has been voted Best Venue at the Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (February 25).

The win for the Tottenham Court Road concert hall was made more poignant by the fact the Astoria was forced to close its doors for good in January this year.

The venue is being demolished to make way for a new railway station that is being built as part of the UK capital’s Crossrail project.

The full list of nominees for Best Venue were:

London Astoria

O2 Arena

O2 Academy Brixton

Manchester Apollo

Glasgow Barrowlands
