Lorde has got into an online row with her fans after she posted a picture of herself on holiday.
The singer, who released her debut album ‘Pure Heroine’ in 2013, took to Instagram with a pic of her kneeling down and looking at what appears to be a frog, alongside the words: “On vacation shooting love heart eyes at the locals.”
One user took issue with the pic and wrote: “Do you think we’ll ever get another album or should we just give up on you as an artist?”
The singer-songwriter hit back and said she had been working hard and that it took her longer to produce new material than other pop stars who do not write their own music.
“Give up on me if you want to! I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it’s all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork,” she wrote. “The record is written, we’re in the production stage now. I’ve worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys.”
Both entries have since been deleted.
Lorde told fans last month she has made some “exciting breakthroughs” on her eagerly-anticipated second album after taking an unusual songwriting trip.
The singer-songwriter revealed on Twitter that she recently spent three days alone in the wilderness working on the follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed debut ‘Pure Heroine’.
Since releasing ‘Pure Heroine’, Lorde has featured on Disclosure’s album ‘Caracal’ and performed ‘Life On Mars?’ at the Brit Awards as a tribute to David Bowie. She also curated the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Pt. 1, for which she recorded several original songs and collaborations.
