Lorde reveals ‘crazy experiences’ behind her ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack

She ended up phoning Grace Jones directly when curating the soundtrack for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1'

Lorde has spoken out about her Hunger Games soundtrack, revealing that some “crazy experiences” went into its making.

One of those experiences was phoning up Grace Jones directly and asking if she wanted to take part in the project. “It was really important to me with the soundtrack that people know how involved I was,” explained Lorde to Billboard. “A lot of that was me reaching out to people directly, having a conversation on the phone, sending an email, sending a text, because I wanted people to know that your song isn’t just going to be flung into some pot and chosen later. I really cared about what was happening.”

The soundtrack involves a collaboration between the New Zealand singer and The Chemical Brothers and Miguel, which you can hear below. ‘This Is Not A Game’ follows Lorde’s recently unveiled ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’. Both will be included on the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack, out on November 17.

Chvrches, Charli XCX and Bat For Lashes are also set to feature and Kanye West will rework Lorde’s ‘Flicker’ for the release.
