Lorde appears on ‘Time’ Magazine’s ‘Most Influential Teens’ list alongside Malala Yousafzai

Musicians Jaden Smith and Becky G also appear on the list alongside figures from world of sport, politics and science

Lorde is featured on Time‘s list of the most influential teenagers in the world.

The list also features entries for musicians Jaden Smith, Austin Mahone and Becky G. Smith is the son of Will Smith and has acted in films including The Karate Kid as well as releasing his own music. Becky G, meanwhile, is the latest protégé of Dr Luke, the producer behind Kesha and Katy Perry.

Lorde’s inclusion is explained as being down to her “inescapable smash-hit ‘Royals'” and forthcoming work curating the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1. She is also cited as a role model who promotes healthy body image.

Outside of music, teens on the shortlist include Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani youth activist who became the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner earlier this month, and 18 year-old Joshua Wong, who has become the face of the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement.

The full list of teens nominated for the award can be seen here. A winner will be voted for by Time readers in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Lorde recently spoke about her amusement over a recent episode of South Park in which she was parodied.
