Lorde tweeted her approval following a second appearance in US animation South Park.
In the episode aired on October 8, it emerged that Lorde was, in fact, 45-year-old geologist Randy Marsh, father of lead character Stan. The story began in the previous week’s episode, ‘The Cissy’, and concluded in ‘Gluten Free Ebola’.
The real Lorde wrote on Twitter: “I have officially been the subject of 2 south park episodes and that is weird and cool… I don’t actually watch south park but from what i can tell sia was involved and someone’s mum said something really nice about me.. score!”
The “someone’s mum” Lorde referred to arose from a scene in which Stan’s mother Sharon tells Randy: “Lorde represents something in all of us a truth that wants to be heard… If I could talk to Lorde right now, you know what I’d tell her I’d tell her not to let me change who she is.”
Posting clips from the show to her Instagram page, Lorde described one scene as “actually surprisingly cute – and from what I can tell [it] also has a message of transgender acceptance (I’m still very new with this type of humour so I’m not sure if was actually genuine but it seemed so to me)”.
Another clip was accompanied by the words “Well shit this is downright sweet. Take that haters, I got a South Park episode.”
Not every personality featured on South Park has been so pleased about it. In 2009, Kanye West said an episode in which he appeared hurt his feelings.
