They're replaced by up-and-coming Scots rockers Biffy Clyro...

Lostprophets have pulled out of the CARLING WEEKEND festivals due to recording commitments.

The Welsh rockers have also cancelled the warm-up dates for both the Reading and Leeds shows and will instead remain in the studio with producer Eric Valentine , who has previously worked with Queens Of The Stone Age and Good Charlotte , to complete their second album, due for release later this year.

Singer Ian Watkins said: “We were gutted once we realised we had to pull these shows. We want to make the best record possible and did not want to rush anything.

“Unfortunately these shows are at the final stages of making the record and we felt it was more important not to short change anyone. When everything is ready, you will know it and you won’t be able to get rid of us. Trust me, it will be worth the wait.”

He added, “At least you still haveMetallica, so its not that bad.”

Biffy Clyro will replace [a][/a] on the Main Stage , playing Leeds on Friday August 22 and Reading on Sunday August 24. Metallica headline on both days.
