Lou Reed looks set to have a posthumous hit with ‘Walk On The Walk Side’.
The song, taken from Reed’s 1972 solo album ‘Transformer’, is currently at Number 43 on iTunes’ UK songs chart, reports Music Week. The single ‘Perfect Day’, from the same record, is currently in the Number 53. ‘Transformer’ itself is at Number Nine in iTunes’ album chart, while ‘The Very Best Of Lou Reed’ is at Number 25.
Lou Reed died yesterday (October 27) aged 71. The cause of death is currently unknown, but the singer had a liver transplant last May (2013).
Artists including Morrissey, The Strokes and David Bowie have paid tribute to the singer.
A spokesperson for The Official UK Charts Company says they expect to see if Reed’s death is having an effect on the official charts tomorrow (October 29).
‘Walk On The Wild Side’ originally reached Number 10 in the Official UK Singles Chart in 1972.
