Singer LOUISE REDKNAPP was caught up in an armed police siege this afternoon, after a man burst into a LONDON television building claiming to be carrying a bomb he was about to detonate.

The incident began at 10am when a 40-year-old man walked into the foyer of London Television Centre on the South Bank, just yards from the NME.COM office, and said he was going to kill himself by exploding a device. After evacuating the first two floors of the centre, armed and bomb squad police surrounded the building. The man gave himself up at 12.45pm and was arrested on suspicion of making threats and taken to Kennington Police Station in south London. He had not been carrying a bomb.

Louise was trapped behind police cordons outside the building. The singer, the subject of much speculation about her long-term recording future, is set to co-host the popular Saturday morning television show ‘SM:TV’ in the coming weeks and had been due to go in to record a voice-over.

Speaking to press at the end of the siege this afternoon, a relieved Louise said: “I’m going to leave now and do some other work elsewhere.”
